Domestic Travel Insurance

Domestic travel insurance provides cover for benefits such as:

  • Unlimited cancellation cover: You are covered against unforeseen circumstances that prevent you from taking some or all of your holiday as planned.
  • Rental vehicle excess cover: If you rent a car and have a prang, your travel insurance will cover you for the out-of-pocket deductible built into the car hire policy (their excess). Please note this does not take the place of rental vehicle insurance, it provides cover for the exces component of this.
  • Luggage and personal effects: The policy provides a substantial cover for theft, loss or damage to your belongings while you are travelling.

If you are travelling domestically (in Australia only), the policy does not cover medical costs, these are generally covered by Medicare or your private health insurer.

So if you are taking a domestic holiday, there are still plenty of reasons to consider purchasing travel insurance!
